Configuring your web browser to allow pop-up windows
Most web browsers include a feature to block pop-up windows. While this may eliminate unwanted or bothersome pop-up windows, this feature impedes the functioning of myAcademic.Center platform.
Our platform requires pop-ups to be allowed for myAcademic.Center.
Firefox browser
- Open Firefox browser, and click the 3 horizontal bars menu button on the browser menu bar and select Preferences. In some versions it is called Options.
- Click the Privacy & Security link on left panel.
- Under the Permissions section, click on Exceptions, that opens a dialog box with a list of sites that you want to allow to display pop-ups.
- In the Address of website field, type myacademic.center, and press Allow button.
- Then press Save Changes button.
Chrome browser
- Open Chrome, then go to the web page that you want to allow pop-ups.
- Click the icon with three dots in the upper right side of the browser toolbar.
- Click Settings.
- Select Privacy and security link on the left panel.
- In this section, click Site settings.
- Scroll down and click Pop-ups and redirects link.
- Scroll down and click Add button in the Allow section. This opens "Add a site" dialog box.
- In the site field, type myacademic.center, and press Add button.
Internet Explorer browser
- Open Internet Explorer, then go to the web page that you want to allow pop-ups.
- From the Tools menu (the gear icon on the far right), select Internet options. The Internet Options dialog box opens.
- Click on the Privacy tab.
- Under Pop-up Blocker ensure the Turn on Pop-up Blocker checkbox is checked, and then click Settings. The Pop-up Blocker Settings dialog box opens.
- Right-click in the Address of website to allow: field, then type myacademic.center.
- Click Add.
- Close any remaining dialog boxes.
Safari browser
Safari for macOS has no per-website control over blocking pop-up windows. Pop-ups are either blocked, or they are not. To allow pop-ups:
- Type https://www.myacademic.center in a new browser tab, and press enter.
- Then from the Safari menu, choose Preferences... and click the Websites tab.
- Choose Pop-up Windows from last side panel.
- The right side window shows all the current tabs in the browser, on the row that has myacademic.center, press the button on the right side and select Allow.
- Exit the Preferences window.
Edge (Windows 10 only) browser
Microsoft Edge for Windows 10 has no per-website control over blocking pop-up windows. Pop-ups are either blocked, or they are not. To allow pop-ups:
- Right-click on the Windows icon (lower-left corner of the screen), then click on Settings.
- Type "pop" or "block" into the search box on the window that comes up, and select "Block or allow pop-ups" from the suggested entries.
- Internet Properties window comes up, with the Privacy tab selected. Make sure the "Turn on Pop-Up Blocker" checkbox is checked, then click on the Settings button.
- Pop-Up Blocker Settings window comes up. Add my academic.center in the "Address of website to allow" box and click on the Add button.
- Click on Close to apply the changes and close the window.
- Click on OK in the Internet Properties window to apply the changes and close the window.
Note 1: Browsers like Safari and Edge allow or disallow pop-ups globally for all websites.
If you are concerned about allowing pop-ups globally for all websites that you browse, consider using another web browser that allows website exceptions such as Chrome or Firefox or Internet explorer.
